Four key points to take into account during COVID-19
It’s been an interesting year, to say the least and now, we’re heading towards “year-end” party season. Whilst 2020’s festivities might look a little different from those in the past, there are a few points to consider to ensure that your function/ event goes off without a hitch. Here’s what we think should take centre stage when considering your event
Outdoor is in
The proper ventilation offered by an outdoor event is helpful in limiting the spread of COVID-19. For this reason, those looking to host successful and “safe” year-end events should look to venues with a large outside area. Another alternative is the hiring of a stretch tent or temporary tent and truss structure. This allows for a customised approach that can be tailored to suit your event’s needs. With the end of 2020 falling in summer, the weather lends itself well to outdoor events, so why not take advantage with a great theme and décor that allows attendees to enjoy every element?
Whilst many businesses might be forced to go smaller this year when it comes to the scale and production of their events, we suggest that they do the opposite and focus on the right kind of events instead. Rather than a lavish year-end function, perhaps now is the time to channel that budget into a more consumer-focused event that drives brand awareness and leads to increased customer loyalty. At Veritas, we work with your budget to ensure that your function delivers a meaningful experience you can be proud of, regardless of where it is and who it’s aimed at.
Seating and layout changes
With COVID-19 making many elements of events a bit tricky, we have all got to adapt if we want to see the festive season‘s events/functions and activations go ahead. This means social distancing that extends to the layout of the venue and the way in which infrastructure set ups are planned and set. Sure, it might take a little getting used to but if this is set to be our new normal for the foreseeable future, we need to embrace it. Trends in this area include space-saving furniture and smaller lounge pockets that promote social distancing. Form meets function with trendy sanitisation areas that drive hygiene whilst making a powerful brand statement and if done right, a definitive talking point.
Plated meals with cutlery are a no-go as events utilise clever single-serve harvest table options that are “take and go.” These can be consumed without the use of knives and forks that have been handled by staff. Think food trucks or stations that offer all of the flavour with none of the risk. From tacos to dim sum, the list is simply endless (and delicious too). Whilst this might take some extra effort on the logistics side of things, you’ll save on the hiring of cutlery and crockery.
